Meeting with the representatives of the Network of Academic societies (NAS) 28.01.2017

November 2-4, 2016, Almaty hosts a meeting with the representatives of the Network of Academic societies within the framework of Smart Waters project.

NAS is formed in Central Asia under CAREC initiative to provide academic knowledge, research development, modern methods and technologies in the field of integrated water resources management. The network includes representatives of universities, training institutes and training centers.

Current challenges and needs of the region determine a demand for institutionalization and further development of the network for the promotion of cooperation, including the annual plan and an adoption of regulatory documents. This demand has determined main objectives of the next NAS meeting.

Objectives of the meeting:

•To inform the participants about current and new mega-projects of CAREC, as well as their results and discuss the involvement of NAS in their implementation;

• To present the experience of cooperation in creating a training course on the 2030 Agenda, and to explore the possibilities for its further use and promotion at national and regional levels;

• To strengthen communication between existing and potential members of the NAS, as well as stakeholders

• To take stock, consider regulatory documents and formulate a joint work plan for 2017.

Meeting with NAS runs within the framework of UNDP / UNEP / CAREC Conference “Common Vision for the 2030 Agenda in CA”, therefore the participants have a wonderful opportunity to join some, the most interesting for them sessions.

Within three days, the participants discuss opportunities for partnership and the format of involvement into implementation of CAREC mega-projects and promotion of training courses. As a result of this meeting, it is planned to adopt the "Regulations on the Network of Academic societies" and Work Plan for 2017.
