What is the Global Mentorship Program?
The Global Mentorship Program is a 6-month virtual program aimed at building collaborative and cross-generational relationships between emerging young conservation leaders and senior conservation professionals. It does so by pairing young conservation leaders under 35 years of age with senior conservation professionals with at least 10 years of experience in a related field in conservation for a structured six-month inter-generational dialogue. This pairing is done based on professional interests and expertise, but also on personal characteristics, and motivations, as well as on mentorship needs and expectations. It is expected that participants have monthly or bi-monthly meetings with their pair, either establishing their own agenda or following the structured mentorship path developed by CoalitionWILD.
Participants in the program are not required to complete a project, task, or report. Rather, we encourage both the Mentor and Mentee to set personal and professional goals for their 6-month experience in the program during their first meetings. CoalitionWILD places an emphasis on co-learning, co- creating, and co-mentoring throughout the program, highlighting the importance of cross-generational interactions and conversations.
What is included in this program?
1. Three community calls along the program, where all program participants are invited to join and actively contribute. These include a Kick-off call, a Mid-term evaluation call, and a Wrap-up and Celebration call at the end of the program.
2. A series of training workshops during the first month of the program specifically crafted for the program’s Mentors and Mentees, so that both sides of the pair are equipped with the knowledge, skills, tools, and resources needed to make the most out of their mentorship journey together
3. Opportunity to follow a 6-month structured mentorship journey, following the materials and resources crafted by CoalitionWILD’s team for program participants, with monthly prompts and exercises, as well as resources to deepen their relationship with their mentorship pair
4. A structured networking opportunity to discuss topics you are passionate about with other participants to expand your network and connections.
5. Monthly check-ins via email and program-long support from CoalitionWILD’s team, including the opportunity to request and schedule one-on-one meetings with the program's organizers upon request.
What are the benefits of the program?
As a Mentee
Many successful people credit having a good mentor as a key factor to their success. A mentor is an invaluable resource to shift from surviving to thriving in the environment, gain insight into past experiences and tricks of the trade, can increase and improve networks, and can provide feedback on working styles, attitudes, technical knowledge, methodologies, etc. This program provides the opportunity to expertly match every mentee with a committed and experienced mentor in a casual but structured environment.
As a Mentor
Being successful in what we do is not only measured by our outputs, reports, implemented projects, or funds raised, but also by the road we pave and the legacy we leave. Investing your time into an emerging conservationist enables and supports not only future generations but also the future of our planet. This program is built upon an understanding of equal exchange, providing mentors with the platform to also learn from their partners, gain a new perspective, and re-energize their passion.
Who can apply?
As a Mentee
Be 35 years of age or younger by the start of the program.
Be (or interested to be) professionally involved in the conservation sector.
Need and/or want support building your career pathway and/or developing specific knowledge and/or skills.
Be available to virtually meet with your mentor for approximately 1–2 hours per month.
Have a reliable and stable internet connection to be able to attend virtual meetings during the program as well as with your mentor.
Have a commitment to actively engaging with your mentor throughout the six months of the program.
As a Mentor
Have at least 10 years of experience in the conservation sector.
Be available to virtually meet with your mentee for approximately 1–2 hours per month.
Have a reliable and stable internet connection to be able to attend virtual meetings during the program as well as with your mentor.
Be committed to supporting your mentee, no matter where they are in their career path or what their particular challenges are, keeping an open mind and respecting their journey.
Interested in joining the 2024 Global Mentorship Program?
Mentee Applicants can expect the following timeline
Review period: Applications will be carefully reviewed by CoalitionWILD’s team from April 30 to May 12, 2024.
1. Pre-selection period: Pre-selected and non-selected participants will be reached out to about the results of the pre-selection process via email on May 13, 2024.
2. Application period: Pre-selected participants will be invited to watch a short training video and fill out the application form between May 13 to May 27, 2024.
3. Selection and pairing process: Selection of participants and pairing with their mentors will happen between May 28 to June 16, 2024. Selected and non-selected participants will receive an email on June 17, 2024 to confirm their participation in the program.
4. Attendance to kick-off session: Selected mentees and mentors will be invited to participate in a kick-off session scheduled to happen on Friday, July 5, 2024, time TBA.
5. Attendance to the training: Selected mentees will be invited to participate in a training scheduled to happen on July 12, 2024, time TBA.

Mentor Applicants can expect the following timeline
1. Review period: Applications will be carefully reviewed by CoalitionWILD’s team from May 27 to June 16, 2024.
2. Selection and pairing process: Selection of participants and pairing with their mentors will happen between May 28 to June 16, 2024. Selected and non-selected participants will receive an email on June 17, 2024 to confirm their participation in the program.
3. Attendance to kick-off session: Selected mentees and mentors will be invited to participate in a kick-off session scheduled to happen on Friday, July 5, 2024, time TBA.
4. Attendance to the training: Selected mentors will be invited to participate in a training scheduled to happen on July 19, 2024, time TBA.
