About the Course

Unsustainable linear consumption trends are accelerating climate change, which is a particular challenge among developing Asia’s fast-growing populations and economies. The shift to a more circular economy could drive sustainable growth by maximizing resource efficiency while minimizing environmental impacts and carbon emissions.

This course introduces circular economy principles and examples of infrastructure, investment, business practices, and innovation needed to stem unsustainable consumption. It also highlights policy opportunities for facilitating the transition to circularity in developing countries. It consists of four units:

  • Unit 1: Introduction to Circular Economy Concepts (9 minutes)

  • Unit 2: Circular Economy and Infrastructure (5 minutes)

  • Unit 3: Circular Economy and Plastics (15 minutes)

  • Unit 4: Toward a Circular Economy (4 minutes)

Learning Objectives

  • Better understand circular economy concepts and how their adoption can support sustainable development
  • Identify opportunities for building a more circular economy across different sectors
