GOAL

To promote effective management of water resources by developing a land irrigation geographic information system (GIS) and database for the Zafarabad district in the Sughd region of Tajikistan

OBJECTIVES

  • To conduct inventory of water facilities, irrigation systems, GIS maps, and database in ESRI Arc GIS for 35 Water Users Associations (WUA) and the local Department of Melioration and Irrigation and to integrate this data into a unified GIS database for the Zafarabad district. 

  • To share knowledge on how to use the developed GIS and database with stakeholders at the local, national, and regional levels.
