We are looking for an expert to promote the Academic Network in Turkmenistan.

The Regional Environmental Centre for Central Asia (CAREC), under the USAID Regional Water and Environment Project, is seeking an expert to promote the Academic Network in Turkmenistan.

Objective:

Promotion and development of the Academic Network in Turkmenistan and its connection with universities through engagement with universities, research centers, and experts in the fields of ecology, sustainable development, and water diplomacy.


Tasks and Responsibilities of the Expert:

  1. Analysis of the Academic Network Development
    • Conduct an analysis of the level of engagement of universities and expert organizations in the network’s activities.

    • Identify key barriers and incentives for attracting new members from academic and expert organizations.

  2. Development of a Promotion Strategy
    • Develop and propose a strategy to promote the network, targeting academic and expert circles in Turkmenistan.

    • Identify key communication channels and engagement methods for each segment (universities, research centers, international organizations).

  3. Engagement with Universities and Experts
    • Organize and conduct meetings with representatives of universities and research organizations (online and offline) to present the Academic Network in Central Asia, its objectives, and the benefits of participation.

    • Establish contacts with key individuals and initiative groups interested in cooperation and participation in the network.

  4. Monitoring and Reporting
    • Ensure tracking of engagement and activity of new participants.

    • Prepare a report analyzing the work carried out and providing recommendations for further development of the network in the academic environment.


Key Performance Indicators (KPIs):

  • Number of new participants from universities and expert organizations who joined the network during the assignment period.

  • Number of meetings, presentations, and workshops conducted for the target audience.

  • Reach of informational materials and audience engagement on online platforms (views, shares, subscriptions).

  • Level of participant satisfaction with new communication materials and events.


Expert Requirements:

  • Experience working in the academic field on issues of ecology and natural resource management.

  • Deep understanding of the specifics of the academic and expert community in Turkmenistan.

  • Skills in engaging with colleagues from the academic community and using communication channels (social media, email newsletters, speeches, presentations).

  • Skills in organizing and facilitating online and offline discussions.

  • Experience in international projects is an advantage.


Timeline and Terms of Work:

  • Project Duration: 8 months

  • Work Format: Remote, part-time, with occasional travel for offline events (if required)

  • Salary: Up to $500 GROSS per month
