Training on Strengthening the Organizational Capacity of the Small Basin Council on the Murghab River

In Turkmenistan, the USAID Regional Water and Environment Project is working to enhance the capacity of the Small Basin Council (SBC) of the Murghab River for more effective use and management of water resources in the area.

To this end, on December 16, the Project conducted a training for representatives of the State Committee for Water Management of Turkmenistan and members of the Murghab River Small Basin Council (SBC). The training covered recent changes in legislation, new water sector development strategies, and ways to ensure the financial sustainability of SBC activities. Such trainings enable the SBC to manage water resources more effectively to improve the well-being of local communities.
