Second Regional Seminar on the Decision Support Process (RDS) in the Amu Darya River Basin

Objectives of the Second Regional Seminar on the Decision Support Process (RDS) in the Amu Darya River Basin:

  • Present the updated concept and approach to the RDS process based on feedback received during the first regional seminar.
  • Demonstrate preliminary results of modeling water, energy, food, and ecosystem security in the Amu Darya River Basin.
  • Present preliminary results of the case study analysis on the Tuyamuyun Reservoir.
  • Discuss development scenarios that go beyond the baseline scenario.
  • Demonstrate the difference between a sectoral planning approach (using only the WEAP water model) and an integrated intersectoral planning approach (using the WEAP-LEAP-Macro modeling suite).
  • Define further development of the WEAP-LEAP-Macro models with an emphasis on potential shared benefits for the Amu Darya River Basin.

Expected outcomes: agreement on scenarios for the further development of the integrated model.
