On September 13, more than 70 local officials, community members, and students gathered on the banks of the Isfara River in Tajikistan to celebrate Syr Darya River Day with a river clean-up activity. Together, they collected over 40 bags of trash.
In the afternoon, the celebration continued with an exhibition of water-themed drawings and essays by local schoolchildren, followed by a discussion with representatives from the Ministry of Energy and Water Resources, local authorities, and members of the Basin Council on ways to improve the management of the Syr Darya River.
